Loosing Teeth

key lost her first tooth! It's a funny little story.  she didn't notice it was gone. we think she ate it. how do you eat a tooth and not notice? we think it was when she was consuming sushi. White rice could disguise the little tooth, ha!

when she found out she lost it, she was extremely giddy. she conjured up in her mind, a painful episode of tooth loss. she was amazed that she didn't feel a thing. the unknown can be frightening sometimes...

Five. She Was All Smiles.

An old post I didn't get a chance to share. Looking back on these photos, it's obvious she's the birthday celebrant!

The Wonder and Magnificent Key,
Five is a big number. Or small--depending how you look at it. Abba and Mommy think that's too big because it feels like yesterday that we welcomed you into this world! I remember the day they put you in my arms. We were so excited to have a little girl Tibayan! We lived all the way in Washington D.C., the place you were born--Your favorite place :)

We're so thankful God has loaned you to us. We love you so, so, so much! You've been a pleasure to teach, love, hug, tickle, kiss, and play tea parties with. There's so much more we want to teach you. I love talking to you about being a woman and what that looks like. You're so interested. You've always been so dainty. Also, a hopeless romantic. You're such a treasure to us and we love you so much that you make our hearts hurt. Your smile, accompanied with your laugh is one of our favorite moments in life! Abba always says your "so excited about life." Thank you for making our heart leap for joy. We pray for you often in regards to following Jesus Christ, purity, marriage and so much more.  Always remember to not dance with a prince for hours and not know his name (inside joke).

Love you forever,
Mommy and Abba

Surprise!

A few months ago, the girls and I went birthday shopping for Key at H&M. Every time we go there, Key wants everything in the little girl section, naturally. This day was no exception. "Mommy, can you buy me this?" happened at least 50 times. As I try to be a smart shopper, I have to weigh things out--is it necessary, useful, on sale, can we wait, etc.

The previous time there, she begged for hair accessories, which I bought her, thinking this would be a good buy since she'll actually wear them--wrong. She only wears them when she and Story play princess at home. I try getting her to wear them out, but they usually come off in the car.

OK, so next time I'll be a smart buyer, at least in theory :) So this time, she asked for a cute, Hello Kitty wallet. She's never had a wallet, but Rock does (she reminded me of this). I thought about it, but then concluded "I'll just make one!" Call me a cheap skate, but I told her no, and that I would make her one. With trying to keep my word, this is my novice, Hello Kitty wallet project. Lots of mistakes but she doesn't care.

Cut, layered, and sewed...

Made a Hello Kitty design then sewed onto homemade wallet
attached velcro and hand sewed little clip buttons
I made a fabric lining on the outside, to cover up the stitching of the velcro. I cut, sewed, turned inside out...

  then attached the fabric.
Fabric glued the tiny nose.
 Then, voila!

Why is Story closing her eyes? It ain't for her!

She was so happy that sang a 10 minute song, she made up, about her wallet! It was so cute! I love her!

Key's Birthday Week at Avila Beach

"Who cares about Mother's Day when the following day we'll all be at the beach for 4 days!" That's what I was thinking since my Mother's Day was low key (I did have Sprinkles at their ATM!) but I didn't care much to celebrate since we'd be off the next day, on a tiny road trip, then fun in the sun!

Thanks to my in-law's time-share (we ain't ball'in), they shared (no pun intended) with us. It was great, relaxing and beautiful! But don't misunderstand, we did have arguments, because honestly, it isn't a family trip, if there ain't arguing. PJ and I had our irritated moments, but God was kind to show us our sin and wake us up from our idolatry.

Trials/Blessing from Our family Trip:
1. On our drive up, Story threw up
2. I constantly got car sick, this was no exception
3. I went into Walmart to buy some milk, while my phone was on vibrate PJ called me 8 times because all kids had to pee! He was not a happy camper as I exited and smiled
4. One argument was based around me trying to lead our family because I felt I knew best (in a stubborn way)
5. Forgot my bathing suit
6. Kids played in a beautiful, beach creek, later to find out, there were signs prohibiting play, due to high levels of bacteria...Eek, gross!
7. A great time of just getting away
