Our Anniversary

june 25th marked our 9 year anniversary! crazy to think next year we'll be married a decade! it doesn't feel like it...after 9 years of marriage, 4 kids, 6 moves, planting a church and so many other adventures, there's never a dull moment being married to this incredible man. i love him with all my heart and i'm so grateful to the Lord for making us one.

i heard ace hotel opened up in downtown la and I was interested in visiting. i read reviews and was intrigued. i yelped our experience. fun for a first time, nothing more. the brass knobs were my fav! all the people partying near the pool was not cool though.

thankful we got to spend time together... cherished times with my love.

The 22 Rules Of This House

  1. We obey God.
  2. We love, honor and pray for one another.
  3. We tell the truth.
  4. We consider one another's interests ahead of our own.
  5. We speak quietly and respectfully with one another.
  6. We do not hurt one another with unkind words or deeds.
  7. When someone needs correction, we correct him in love.
  8. When someone is sorry, we accept their apology.
  9. When someone asks for forgiveness, we forgive them. ***
  10. When someone is sad, we comfort him.
  11. When someone is happy, we rejoice with him.
  12. When we have something nice to share, we share it.
  13. When we have work to do, we do it without complaining.
  14. We take good care of everything that God has given us.
  15. We do not create unnecessary work for others.
  16. When we open something, we close it.
  17. When we take something out, we put it away.
  18. When we turn something on, we turn it off.
  19. When we make a mess, we clean it up.
  20. When we do not know what to do, we ask.
  21. When we go out, we act just as if we were in this house.
  22. When we disobey or forget any of the 21 Rules of This House, we accept the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
My Lovely found this helpful list, which in a nutshell explains the way we try to conduct our home, by God's grace! Living as a family is not easy and requires communication and healthy boundaries, right?  A great list to have! We have it printed and in our kitchen. I'd like to write Bible verses to coincide with each boundary, as a reminder to myself, PJ and the kids, that God loves us and wants us to be happy in Him and it's clear through his Word.

It's originally from here by Gregg Harris (Joshua Harris' father).

***Number 9 was added because we make a big emphasis on using biblical language when we sin against each other. Sorry's are for mistakes, and asking for forgiveness, is for sin.

{Smile Moment} My Lovely

The love I have for this man...

I'm head over heels for him! just thought I'd share.

And I must say it's not because our love is based on emotions (trust me there's times we don't feel like loving each other) but it's based on the promise, the covenant we made to each other before our Lord Jesus Christ on June 25, 2005...And our love story still continues (if the Lord wills).

Have a blessed weekend!

10 Things [I Don't Like] About You...

1. The amount of books we have in our home
2. The way you drive (I easily get car sick)
3. Stall when we have to leave the house
4. Rush me when we have to leave the house
5. Cut your hair in our bathroom
6. The way you dress the kids (if I allowed you to :)
7. Have a million tee shirts
8. You don't wash my car :)
9. You don't know how to cook and
10. You're a picky eater
(I asked PJ to make a list too, but he forgot)

Sorta weird, but all these things I LOVE at the same time!!!

These things are minor... Sometimes they cause fights, sometimes we laugh because we feel the selfishness and the stupidity of it--But the number ONE thing WE HATE about each other is---our SIN. It's horrific and the SIN that lurks in our hearts is far more serious than we can both understand. I hate my sin. I hate when I'm so selfish, feel it, know it, and I allow it to conquer me for that moment, or several moments! Some Christian guy (sorry I don't know his name), wrote a response essay to the question: What is the biggest problem in the world? He responded, "the biggest problem in the world is me." Or as Paul Tripp says, "the biggest problem in our marriage, is me." So, what's our solution that the Bible clearly states? BE CLEAN, by Jesus Christ. Trust Christ. See your sin, grieve over it. Hate it. Feel and know the weight of your sin and then cling to the cross where God himself planned a redemption story, so that we may see HIM more glorious and be happy in Him! Through Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sin, we can live fully with Him and live here on Earth struggling with our sin, but knowing Jesus paid it all. We strive and remember and cling to the cross that sheds light to our need of Jesus Christ and our shedding of sinful, ugly habits.

Thank you PJ for loving me and washing me with God's Word. You are treasured in my heart.

Your best friend,
wifee

New Orleans, Day 2

These gals were so fun :)

I can't say enough about these two! They are just plain lovely.

Cafe Amelie had the most amazing shrimp and grits!!! I've never had grits before, but if all taste like this, Imma a fan!

This is SO New Orleans :)

I read something on Houzz yesterday that rang true regarding New Orleans. It mentioned, New Orleans   being the only place they've visited, in the States, that feels like you're in another country. So true!

New Orleans, Day 1

Our hotel near the French Quarter

Bourbon Street!
!

Look who we found from Los Angeles in New Orleans?! Mindy, from our church family! I love this girl :)

Representing...
 Getting wild in New Orleans...J/K!

Delish...one bite is enough for the year!
 Known for their french beignets
 The great Mississippi River!

Doesn't it look like Disneyland? Saint Louis Cathedral of New Orleans, established in 1720.

PJ was excited to see this...whatever.
Where we stayed. Beautiful and cozy. Great service. I gotta give them Yelp props.
Despite PJ having a fever for a day, he forced himself to meet up with Mindy, because of the randomness of us being in New Orleans together.

We walked through Bourbon Street which was uhm...crazy! We got some interesting stories. Our time there was great and a huge blessing! NAMB, is amazing and so kind in giving PJ and I (and other couples) an anniversary vacation... Well, it wasn't for that, but it sure felt like it!

We had so much fun. We hung out with our good friends, the Choi's and the Nguyen's. God is kind in giving us good friends in Christ.
