Ahhhh....

we recently had our much needed vacation (stay-cation) which was refreshing. i unintentionally took a social media vacation too. it felt good to disconnect and connect with people in real life. ahhhh! social media, i hate you but like you.

there's a lot of good reminders on the web that deal with social media issues. i'll have to do a round up of the good stuff i've come across.

i digress... these pictures were from the howard johnson's hotel in Anaheim. they have a water park, which was the draw for us, and because of that, we packed up and headed to nearby anaheim. we loved that we were able to relax and not be too afraid of the kids getting lost. It was small enough to just sit and relax, yet big enough for the kids not to get bored. they loved it! i'll have to give a yelp review about our stay.

a few things i learned (or re learned) during our vacation:

it's easy to take a vacation from God when on vacation.
visiting other churches made me miss our church.
vacations can be tiresome. Pace yourself.
delve into a good book.
if i'm home, i'm undoubtedly cleaning : \
i need to learn how to vacation.
i needed a vacation from social media.
jack bauer makes us happy.
having four kids is fun.
next year, Lord willing, our vacation can't land during our anniversary.

2013

Twenty-thirteen was a good year. We added to our clan with Miss City Danika Tibayan, she entered our world and had our hearts! Watching our children become older the day they met City was precious and sad--To see them grow up and enter a new stage of life had mixed emotions. Here's a quick short review:

  • All our kids were blessed with another year.
  • PJ and I celebrated our 8th anniversary with a low key dinner (since I was 2 months postpartum).
  • We were blessed with a trip to one of our favorite cities.
  • My baby sister became a mom.
  • My brother in law became a dad.
  • My other brother in law had his fourth... We were racing :)
  • Homeschooling got a whole lot more interesting!
  • Family vacation was local and not as refreshing as we expected. Now we know for 2014 :)
  • Our first time in Palm Springs.
  • Blessings/praises, trials/sorrows, but a beautiful display of Christ and the Church at CrossView.
  • Another year we all missed our Danika terribly.
  • Our nephew Niko became famous!
  • We had our first ALONE date night, without City, a few weeks ago. Due to her not taking any bottle, we had to take her along :)
  • Rock started learning to play the  piano, Key is extremely flexible and got her ears pierced, and Story got her first hair cut.
  • My Lovely, PJ is still pastoring CrossView and we are encouraged at what God is doing with our church members.
  • I'm busy with being a wife, mommy, and faithful christian (by God's grace!). There's never a dull moment in the Tibayan household :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

DIY Scalloped Shorts and 14 Weeks

I'm past the 1st trimester and I'm big. People look at me funny when I tell them how many weeks I am. I also have to tell them "I get big." No lie. I'm pretty much anticipating being as big as I was with Story
: / Oh well, I can't do anything about how my body carries my kids.

As am trying to figure out what clothes to wear--I'm at a weird stage of weight, I'm not big enough for a lot of my maternity clothes, but I can't fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes either. I made these scalloped shorts 6 months ago but they fit funny :( I recently tried them on, thinking maybe they'll fit better since I've gained weight and they did fit better! It was nice seeing my DIY scalloped shorts not go to waste :)

Btw, I love my thrifted funky shirt! And it still fits even though I'm preggo!

Got the DIY idea here, but decided to first make shorts, since I had fabric.

 Rock...
 Key...they liked this part.

Recipe from here...the kids love their pretzels.

The Tibayan clan is on their two week vacation!!! We are excited and want to do everything, and do nothing at the exact same time...How does that work?!

We'll see where we end up :)

Breakfast for Dinner

This always reminds me of the East Coast. When we were there, we had a family invite us over for dinner, and she kindly served eggs, scones, and bacon. I was happy to eat it, but it did catch me by surprise.

This week I didn't know what to make for dinner. I looked in the pantry, because that's where you look for obscure food, right? I found a box of pancake mix, pulled out the old waffle maker, and surprised the kids with waffles for dinner! They were so happy, that it made me happy!

More waffle dinners please :)

Family Day

Scrumptious new pizza joint, TomatoPie!  Read their reviews...

Yum, Yum and more Yum!

Then off to Universal Studios, to try the new Transformers ride! PJ, Rock and I liked it!

A great time with the family-- good pizza and good rides! PJ and I also went on The Mummy, which surprisingly was good. It was like Disneyland's Space Mountain. We had to alternate taking care of the kids, but the wait time was quick. Blessings all around :) Thank you Lord!

Blessings:
good pizza
good rides
fast ride wait times
one frustrating moment PJ and I had, we keep trying to explain something to each other but we kept misunderstanding each other!
Enjoying everyone's company!

Memorial Day/80s Birthday Party

For my older sister's birthday party, we were told to dress up in our finest 80's gear. It's no problem for me, since I love the 80s! The music was great! And hello, Flashdance! Ok, a lot of things about the 80s are hilarious (teased up hair, neon tights, etc), but still, I love it.

 The lovebirds.
After changing, and dressing back into normal clothes, I fancied my gold, saltwater sandals. I love these sandals. They're so comfortable and cute. Can I sleep in these?
Endless rounds of horse shoe games.

All the guys decided to get competitive and play a game that PJ's never played but was coming out on top...That's my man! ;)
And the little cousins loved running around my sister's new house, with a humongous backyard, that once housed horses! These hammocks are dreamy and so relaxing. If God ever blesses us with a backyard, I'd like to think we'd invest in one of these, asap!
